Retreats

A major focus of Kairos Ministries, Inc. programs is weekend retreats aimed at helping people experience God in a deeper way. We emphasize inner healing and spiritual growth experiences, guided by the Holy Spirit. Depositing truth, we teach God’s life-giving principles, helping people understand the nature of the spiritual journey and what it is that God has in mind for us.

In our retreats, something special happens that often leads to people having direct encounters with the living God. Because they see something new with the eyes of the heart, the learning process becomes a life-giving process that makes them more spiritually alive.

Safe, Nurturing Place

Our retreats are designed to facilitate holistic growth and healing experiences in a safe, open, and nurturing atmosphere that makes possible the “Kairos moment” (see What Kairos Means). In this atmosphere people feel safe to explore and experience their emotions and thoughts. Honest expression of painful feelings is encouraged. We take people to Jesus Christ so they may receive something more from Him.

Interactive, Experiential Learning

Kairos Ministries retreats combine biblical teaching with interactive, experiential learning. We utilize creative exercises to help people get out of their rational, ego point of view and down into their hearts. Breaking through to a deeper level enables them to receive revelation and understanding from God.

Through a variety of activities, people are helped to interact with the life-giving truths and principles. These may include drawing, attitude work, emotional release work, dream processing, journaling, sharing, meditation, affirmation, etc.—as the Holy Spirit leads. Sometimes we reflect on what the experiences have meant to us.

Relational Learning

Retreats often allow group processes that encourage dynamic learning in a relational environment. In the presence of others who provide mutual support and encouragement, we can let down our defenses, allowing more open communication. We begin to experience ourselves, others, and God in new ways.

The group environment enables us to discover the meaning of our experiences in the context of connection with others. We believe strongly that we heal in community. Our lives are touched by the interaction with other people seeking more from God.

For currently planned retreats please see our Schedule of Events.

"No one can develop freely in this world and find a full life without feeling understood by at least one person. He who would see himself clearly must open up to a confidant freely chosen and worthy of such trust" (Paul Tournier, M.D.).
